Finding the Right Vessel

TradeVessels makes it easy to search the maritime market. Start by browsing our vessel categories — dredgers, tugs, barges, offshore vessels, cargo ships, tankers, workboats, and passenger vessels.

Using Filters Effectively

Our filter system lets you narrow down quickly:

  • Vessel type: Select a category and sub-type (e.g., Dredgers > TSHD).
  • Price range: Set your budget with min/max price filters.
  • Location: Filter by where the vessel is currently located.
  • Year built: Focus on vessels within your preferred age range.
  • Advanced filters: LOA, flag state, classification society, and type-specific specs like hopper capacity or bollard pull.

Evaluating a Listing

Each vessel listing includes detailed specifications, condition information, and seller details. Look for:

  • Verified seller badge: Companies that have completed our verification process.
  • Complete specifications: The more data a seller provides, the more confident you can be.
  • Class status: Check whether the vessel is in class and when the next special survey is due.
  • Photos: Quality photos indicate a seller who takes their listing seriously.

Contacting the Seller

When you find a vessel you're interested in, click "Contact Seller" to send an inquiry. Include details about your project, timeline, and any specific questions. This helps the seller understand your requirements and respond with relevant information.

Due Diligence

Before making an offer, conduct thorough due diligence. Request documentation (class certificates, survey reports, maintenance logs), arrange a physical inspection, and consider a sea trial. Our guide on vessel inspections covers this in detail.

Closing the Deal

Negotiate terms directly with the seller through our messaging system. TradeVessels charges a flat 1% commission on completed sales — five times less than a traditional broker. There are no listing fees, no subscription costs, and no hidden charges.
