Overview

Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) are seeing renewed demand as offshore oil & gas activity picks up globally. If you're looking to sell a PSV, location matters — both where the vessel is currently based and where the demand is strongest.

1. West Africa (Nigeria, Angola, Ghana)

West Africa remains the largest market for PSVs, driven by deepwater field developments and FPSO support requirements. Vessels with DP-2 capability and large deck space (800m²+) are in highest demand. Average sale prices for 2010-built PSVs range from $8M–$14M.

2. North Sea (UK, Norway)

The North Sea market has stabilized after the downturn, with steady demand for PSVs supporting both legacy oil & gas operations and the growing offshore wind sector. Norwegian-flag vessels with NORSOK compliance command premium prices.

3. Middle East (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar)

National oil companies are expanding their offshore fleets, creating demand for both purchase and long-term charter of PSVs. The region prefers newer vessels (built 2015+) with good fuel efficiency ratings.

4. Southeast Asia (Malaysia, Indonesia)

Petronas and Pertamina are driving steady PSV demand in the region. Smaller PSVs (2,000–3,500 DWT) are preferred for shallow-water operations common in Indonesian waters.

5. Brazil

Petrobras's pre-salt development program continues to require substantial PSV support. Brazilian cabotage laws mean foreign-flag vessels typically need to be reflagged, but the price premiums justify the effort for sellers.

Listing Your PSV

When listing a PSV for sale, highlight DP capability, deck area, fuel consumption, and any special notations (FiFi, oil recovery, etc.). Include recent special survey status and engine overhaul history — these are the first things buyers check.
